Missed appointment fees
At Buchanan Optometrists, we take the time to spend with you at your appointment. Our appointment times are considerably longer than a lot of opticians. You will be seeing one of our qualified optometrists who will be using state of the art equipment. At Buchanan Optometrists, our fees are based upon the time that you will be with the Optometrist.
A missed optical appointment means lost clinical time to the practice and deprives other clients of the opportunity to benefit from this time. During this period, we have an empty chair, wages and overheads still have to be paid, and the business makes a loss. This can only then be covered by increasing charges to our clients, something which we don’t want to do.
The demand for appointments at our practice is high, and to ensure that we keep waiting times as short as possible and maximize our clinical time, we ask that you give 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend.
A charge will be made for appointments missed, cancelled changed or moved at less than 48 hours notice if we cannot fill that appointment.
Automatic Missed Appointment Fees
If you miss or cancel or wish to change at short notice an appointment at Buchanan Optometrists an automatic charge will be added to your account as outlined in our missed appointment policy below:
If it is the first appointment that you have missed with us, we’ll try to contact you to check everything is well and arrange to re-book the appointment for you. In this instance, 100% of the cost of the appointment will be charged and will be taken off your fees at your next visit if it is within one month. If you fail to pay this an administration charge will be added and the debt may be passed to a debt collection agency.
Upon missing a second appointment, a charge of 100% of the cost of the appointment plus an administration fee of £12 will automatically be added to your account. While this charge will not fully cover the cost of the lost clinical time, it will allow us to partially cover our overheads, thus helping to prevent raising our prices unnecessarily.
On missing any subsequent appointments, we reserve the right to charge the full cost of the appointment plus an administration fee of £12 and to refuse appointments at our practice. Further appointments will then only be bookable after the settlement of your account.
Missed appointment charges must be settled within 7 days of the appointment date. Failure to settle these within 7 days will result in further administration charges and interest being added to your account. Any subsequent appointments you have may be cancelled without notice. The debt may be passed to a debt collection agency.
